SÃO PAULO – The privatization process of Eletrobras, the largest electricity company in Latin America, included the creation of a new state-owned company. This Monday (13), the government published the creation of the Brazilian Company of Participations in Nuclear and Binational Energy (ENBpar).
ENBpar will be linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy and was created to house the assets of Eletronuclear and the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant. The dismemberment of these two pillars is important because, according to the Brazilian constitution, there is an impediment to the privatization of these two companies.
